Semester offered: (Full Year) Grade level open to: 11, 12
Prerequisites: Must have successfully completed Power Technology 1 or Consumer Mechanics 1 or
have equivalent experience with instructor's permission
A. 4-stroke theory, design and construction. Normal and abnormal operation.
B. Automotive tools, measuring devices, automotive mathematics, safety rules.
C. Cylinder block assembly, valve train, lubrication system, cooling system, fuel systems,
D. Ignition system, engine tune-up, fuel and carburation, fuel injection, ignition and
electrical, emission control systems, computer controlled systems.
E. Power train, clutches, standard transmission, automatic transmission
Students can expect to: gain a practical working skill of the automobile engine and power train
Students will learn to:
- work on the gasoline or diesel engines
- students must provide their own engines and power trains in their entirety including: parts, fuel, and ignition systems for class work
